Donate

Our financial donations are only a small part of our impact. While donating to feed the hungry is our main goal, we also provide comradery for our volunteers and keep tons of fabric out of landfills.

Most of the textiles, thread, and machines are donated to the Socially Responsible Sweatshop. We aim to only purchase the few items we must, such as scissor sharpening, cutting boards, commercial cutter, edge binding, and occasional machine parts. Even our machines are maintained by a dedicated volunteer.

The few dollars that are donated toward our operations are occasionally supplemented by grants.

Your Donation is Very Important

Individuals and businesses donate most textiles used to create items, rather than sending these items to landfills. Without these donations, we would not exist.

If you have donations that you believe we can use, please email us and include photos and descriptions of the items you wish to donate.

We cannot accept used clothing other than laundered t-shirts and denim jeans without large rips or stains. Donations of thread must be less than ten years old. Stuffing for pillows is not needed, as we stuff with our scraps. Sewing machines from pre-1980 might be acceptable, or we may be able to rehome them. Newer machines cannot hold up to our use and industrial machines will not work on our power supply. All yarn is welcome. We welcome quilting fabric in fat quarters or larger, no limit on quantity. We always need Flannel fabric. For large stashes, please give an estimate of the volume and content. Donations of upholstery fabric are very appreciated.

Do not drop off donations outside our workshop. Any abandoned items will be thrown away due to health and safety concerns.

We can provide donors with tax receipts for in-kind donations. Please tell us your estimation of the value.

We cannot do what we do without your donations, however, our space and inventory constraints determine what we are able to accept. Thank you for understanding.

The Socially Responsible Sweatshop is a 501c3 charitable organization and can receive tax-deductible financial donations through PayPal, Venmo, cash or check.
